Join us in celebrating ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½'s new waterfront space with an evening of music, special guests and activities
A project years in the making will soon be celebrated.
Cohen Lawn is now complete, featuring an outdoor patio and lawn, a rooftop patio, Kahn Pavilion and Luna’s Pub & Grill, and will be celebrated at the Cohen Lawn Community Celebration on Wednesday, May 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. From live music and karaoke to food and games, this event will showcase the entirety of this addition to campus life at Norris University Center.
“The plan is to celebrate all of the space,” Norris Executive Director Corbin Smyth said. “The whole point of this is to activate all of the spaces and say thank you to the campus community for embracing it and to the donors and trustees for making it happen.”
Programming will run at Kahn Pavilion, including remarks from student leaders who helped make Cohen Lawn possible and University leaders, including Interim President Henry Bienen and Susan Davis, vice president for Student Affairs. Interspersed with the speeches will be performances from student band Rain Check, acrobatic group Jesse White Tumblers and Chicago-based six-piece band Ring of Music.
Inside Luna’s, attendees are invited to participate in karaoke from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and take advantage of food specials available at the restaurant. Two local vendors that supply food to Luna’s, Phoenix Bean Tofu and Heaven’s Honey, will be on site, providing giveaways and samples of their products on the plaza.
On the lawn, Sprite will have a pop up, serving cold drinks to attendees, while Associated Student Government will host lawn games like cornhole and giant Connect-4. In addition, ShakeSmart will have promotions and giveaways available inside Norris.
This event will be the capstone of this new waterfront space on ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½’s campus, bringing together all who made it possible and those who will enjoy it for years to come.
