Visiting Scholar Plan

  • All J-1 and B1/WB visiting scholars are required to have health insurance throughout the duration of the research appointment at ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½, either through Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS) or an alternative insurer that meets or exceeds minimum requirements.
  • Effective January 1, 2023, the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Visiting Scholar Plan (VSP) will be offered by Cigna StudyWell/Cigna Global Health Benefits and administered by Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS).
  • Participation in the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½’s Visiting Scholar Plan (VSP) is mandatory unless visiting scholars are able to provide evidence of coverage that meets the University’s minimum requirements, and a waiver is filed and approved with Gallagher Benefit Services.
  • It is the responsibility of the host department to ensure visitors are adequately insured.
