Research at ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ is vital to the University’s mission of improving health, safety and quality of life worldwide. It also promotes economic growth across the Chicago region, the nation and the world.
²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ maintains strong partnerships with federal agencies and remains fully eligible to receive and manage federal research awards. Following a resolution agreement with the federal government, the University’s research funding has been restored and activities are continuing under the terms of the agreement.
In a changing national policy landscape, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ regularly reviews how to best support its research efforts and provides timely updates to the community. This page summarizes the current federal research environment and reflects the University’s dedication to transparency, stewardship and ongoing engagement.
Current Status of Federal Research Funding
Following a temporary pause in 2025, federal research funding to ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ has been restored. Proposal submissions, award management, reimbursements and subawards are proceeding under standard University processes.
²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ continues collaborating with federal sponsors to maintain high standards of compliance, accountability and responsible management of research funds.
Ongoing Monitoring and Engagement
Although federal funding has been restored, the national research landscape continues to evolve. ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ remains attentive to developments affecting funding, regulatory expectations and administrative requirements.
